Residential Education & Housing Services

At Occidental, our student body advocates for communities that demonstrate mutual respect, support, and celebration. Residential Education and Housing ServicesÌýpartners with students to shape and nurture their community.

During the three years that students are required to live on campus, we offer a variety of living options. All students are connected to well-trained Resident Advisors for near-peer support as well as professional Residential Education staff members who live and work on-campus.Ìý

We offer 17 on-campus halls and houses which include a number of Themed Living Communities to offer students a variety of living and learning experiences on campus.

Residential Education and Housing Services (REHS) is excited to have you moving in with us!

Residence hall move-in will take place on the following days and times based on your class year:

  • All first-year and transfer students can move in as early as Monday, August 21 between 8 A.M.—2:30 P.M.
  • All sophomores, juniors and seniors can move in as early as Saturday, August 26 at 10 A.M.
REHS is unable to provide any early move in requests, so all students will need to seek alternative housing if they wish to return to campus earlier than their scheduled move-in date.
Ìý
All incoming first year students and transfer students approved for on-campus received an email from REHS on June 1 regarding completing their housing application. The housing application is due June 25.

  • To encourage the appreciation and understanding of Occidental’s unique location in an urban city that promotes the development of the entire student.
  • To provide and maintain safe and clean housing environments which promote individual responsibility and community accountability.
  • To effectively recruit, train, develop and support a diverse team of staff members who strive to meet and exceed student needs and expectations.
  • To encourage the holistic development and wellness of students by intentionally challenging and supporting them.

Â鶹ƵµÀ makes a firm commitment to the value of a residential experience for college students and recognizes the significant role that the residential education program plays in the lives of our students. There is a dedication to providing all residents with a safe and comfortable living environment, free from hazards and harassment.

Through building a framework in which all community members can participate in an active social life and form resource networks with one another, a community atmosphere that empowers individuals with the responsibility for involvement, personal initiative, and free expression is fostered.
